Technical HELP! coolant question

Hi

I have just been topping up the coolant on a 53 reg Punto 1.2 8v. I stupidly began putting in blue coolant when I think it has the red stuff in it. It was a small amount which I put in maybe around 150ml. Does anyone know if this will be ok? or do I need to drain the whole system?

should be fine.. the colours only differ to the time they last in the engine.. think the blue lasts about 2 years.. and the red lasts about 3/4

drain it out and flush well...

red and blue are 2 different chemicals and IMMSMC are incompatible and can turn to jelly

They generally were 30 years ago. Now the principle ingredient will be ethylene glycol. The inhibitors may be different, but that shouldn't cause any problems short term.

If the blue is suitable for aluminium engines then it will be fine with the other, assuming it is correct for aluminium engines.

As fingers says, its just the inhibitors that change, but thats only for different metals. Colour is an elephant.
