Help choosing a new car!

if you get a 306 get a phase 2 gti as the older versions arent actualy as powerfull and the s16 is a bit pants really as its not half as good as a gti and just as dear to insure, my old gti had a bmc airfilter, full MAGNEX exhaust and de-cat, 285' cams and pulleys and that was dyno'ed at jp autotechnics at sheffield and that was running 182bhp, the s16 wouldnt make that much power plus it has a crap gearbox where as the gearbox in the gti 6 is realy smooth.

well ive decided to get a mini cooper s later on this year, so until then i need a cheap run around as stated above (up to 2k)
what can i get, not botered about a quik car for now
