hi took mymulti out todayafter half hour or so driving my car took off and started to drive its self never heard of this before when u dipthe clutch it dies down then screems up to 3000 revs until u select a gear then it drives its self no help needed does any one no why this is took air filter apart and it ticks over at 1000 revs still a little high as it was sitting at half that but it sounds like a boy racers car is this an easy fix any help welcomed thanks need car 4 wendsday so need a temp fix

I believe the Multi is a drive by wire (Don't laugh!!), I'd suspect the throttle potentiometer which translates the right boot into throttle settings for the ECU.
Oil levels ok? Just in case yr engine is burning it's own oil.

Two people, one to shake the wire on the RHS, and one to look for the shaking wire LHS makes it easy.

- black round [ish] unit just above the throttle pedal top with a wire coming out of it
- the wire goes exactly horizontal left - behind the astray etc - to a white multiplug under the dash in the passenger seat area
- the other end of the multiplug goes to the ECU

99% of [ soddin expensive  ] potentiometer problems can be solved FOC by cleaning the multiplug contacts. Just pull it apart, and re-plug a couple of times, or do the job properly with ' switch cleaner ' if it is a potentiometer fault you've saved £150 plus fitting.

I made a post eons ago, if your pushed for the OHMS values I'll have to search the forum and dig it out for you. Ask :)

I had loads of problems like this with our multi I cleaned the plugs up on the passenger side but it came back so in the end I cut the plugs out and soldered the heat shrunk the wires and I have not had a problem since.

Very true, garages solder & sleeve it all the time, it is the correct and proper long term fix. (y)

thanks 4aLl replys all sorted was white plug thanks for all ur help

What's the cheapest fix for this my throttle well and truely jamed now my passenger had to help me drive home dissconecting the box under dash every time its connected it just takes off

Borrow a 12 bore shot gun and shoot the damn thing , put it out of its misery.and feel smug

HiYa Pete

- which box ? [ drivers side ] the potentiometer above the throttle pedal, or ;
- do you mean [ passenger side ] the multiplug above the passenger footwell ?

If its [ drivers side ] the potentiometer mate you are goosed, best bet is a scrappie because of the price

If its [ passenger side ] the multiplug solder & sleeve the wires together

If its the point where the [ passenger side ] multiplug goes into the ECU under the passenger seat [ or wherever ] check the plug into the ECU at that end

Its the passengers side couldn't find any thing on the drivers side on the drivers side it looks like some one has striped the wires back in a past time
