Hello all... been viewing the forum for a little while when lulling over the purchase of my JTD Stilo. Now i've bought the car I thought i'd join in.

Had the car a week. All I can say is I absolutely love it to pieces. I read in some auto reviews that the handling is a down-side on the stilo, I have to say I think the opposite is true. Very impressed with the cars stablity on the road. And engine... wow... at first a little awkward when at lower speeds but above 30 the car absolutely flied. On the way home this evening I overtook a artic lorry on an A road with very few passing places with frightening ease. Brilliant stuff.

Is the smoke which comes out the exhaust when you floor it normal?

You've had it a week and it's taken you this long to register! :nono: For shame! :D

Many Stilo owners comment that the handling isn't brilliant (myself included) and the car tends to 'wallow'. The best thing you can do right now is look into changing the springs. If you've been following the forum for a while you'll know about the spring snap issues, just one of the reasons to change springs. Welcome to the fold, and I, along with everyone else I'm sure, wish you many years of happiness with your Stilo. Just a couple of questions though:

3 or 5 door (no right or wrong answer, unless you say 5. That's the wrong answer :D )

And Any warning lights yet? :p

it's a 3 door in black of course... with skyroof as well. a real looker.

is there a certain year at which the spring problem ceased to happen? mines an 04 plate.

Shouldn't worry about the smoke, most diesels do it when they're floored. Mine leaves a lovely black cloud behind, especially when I go by Beemers or Audi's, bit like 'eat my dirt':D

It's just passed its MOT so the emmissions aren't a problem.

I think there was a poll done by Argo that listed which years had the most springs snap..If you don't want to lower your car you can also use the ones from proven products I came across ..manufactured by Boge ..Decks did a thread on them some where he used them and he's very happy with them ..he didn't even have the spring catcher bodge fitted he's that confident of their quality (y)

Nice car i might add (y) . Always nice to here another great Stilo is out on the road - arent all Stilo's great though.

Mine smokes quite a bit when i put my foot down. I cant usually see it during the day, but as the early nights close in i can see the trails of smoke whisping into the lights of the car behind as i boot it to leave them behind.

Been driving a bog standard diesel Cabstar earlier today, each gear limited to 10mph, and i got in my car a few hours ago and went into the nearest large town to me. Selby, about 10 miles from where i live (narrow but straight road about 5 miles long), and what can i say, my car felt like a Supercar, i managed to overtake the lorries that i hadnt earlier.

Put the heating on (and a hoodie), and used the skyroof, how i love my car. I get a warm fuzzy feeling everytime i look at it on the drive. Its going to get the worlds best wash tomorrow.

The sound system is also particularly good, i parked it up outside my house whilst i quickly ran in, with the tunes on, and could here it booming lol :D .

Im not really sure actually. i think mine is an advanced one, how much do the standard speakers kick out. Because mine has the standard speakers i think, but the dealer did say that he though it had the bose system in, and there might be a sub in the boot, but i dont really go in there that often?

Mine has the sub in the boot, it's quite a good standard system when you get the bass set up right :D it's good enough for what I want it for anyway.

It was probably the music i had on. Pacha dance experience disc 2, first 2 tracks are absolutely amazing.

I have the bass set up at about 5 to 6. I was amazed that i managed to get it to full volume still without there being much distortion. I hd a laugh with it a few months ago back at end of July.

I pulled up behind this chavved up saxo, with windows down, and musc literally distorting out, though what can i do to wind them up. Whacked on my dance CD and turned it right up, they turned around and stared at me. I just acted all cool and calm. Ahh. Fun times (i was catching a few rays at the time as well).

Well you should feel the rush you get wen somebody does pull up next to you with a decent system and looks at you as if to say your's aint that loud. Then they realise its just the intro to the song "no proper bass yet" then the bassline drops and you leave them stunned going down the road setting off every car alarm as you pass.:slayer: It may be seen a chavvy but i Fing love it.

Welcome to the world of Stilo ownership! Youll have to put up some pics soon!
