Hi
Haven’t been on the Forums for a while, I purchased today a 2013 panda cross. I picked it up this afternoon from Berwick on Tweed, Car is fine except the gear change is very vague, bit of a lottery what gear your going in to. The owner explained that he had gotten used to it , and if I take my time I can catch the Gears. So I’ll be looking about and hopefully pick up some tips from the Forum.
Regards
Ian

Assuming nothing loose, the only adjustment I had on a 2010 Fiat Doblo was with the gear stick covers removed there is, I think side to side adjustment only, via a locking tooth arrangement. It is possible more adjustment on yours , I am not sure. Do you know if gear cables have ever been replaced as I can't see the adjustment moving otherwise.Photo below is a 2014 basic Panda cables.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll try and have a look at that
I came across a post referring to something under the battery which seems like a lever of some sort
That the cable joins on to, this apparently gets corroded and has to be cleaned and lubed.

Thanks again. I’m thinking of removing and cleaning up the Lever on top of the Gearbox. Does the clutch have a separate master cylinder or does it use the Brake Cylinder fluid ?
Any idea where I can pick up Oil and AirFilter plus Diesel filter. Looked on EBay surprised their quite expensive.

There will be a separate clutch master cylinder, but it probably uses the brake master cylinder reservoir to supply it, usually from a higher pick up point to avoid a leaking clutch hydraulics causing brake failure.;)
There is often posts on Forum re clutch hydraulics which may be advisable to read, also suggestions on where to buy service items.:)

Thanks
I’ve checked the brake fluid level which seems to be at the correct level. Can anyone tell me the location of the Clutch fluid reservoir
Thanks

Hi, congrats on your new car.

I'm just across in Edinburgh with a '17 Panda Cross, if you're ever over this way and fancy a brew with a fellow Panda fan shoot me a message!

For parts I've been using Shop4parts and they've been decent for pricing compared to a lot of places, it's always worth shopping around still just in case but I've found them to be decent.

I had to get the clutch & flywheel replaced recently on mine (0.9 TwinAir) - symptoms were a slight high pitched whine when getting going in both forward & reverse,

I had to get it done at my local gearbox specialist as I haven't got the space to do it myself currently, the cost was ~£1400 for parts & labour so it can be a costly fix if it's not covered by warranty.

The clutch not disengaging even when the pedal is fully depressed can be a symptom of the clutch needing replaced. If unsure, have you gotten a second opinion from any mechanics?

I'm no mechanic but there are quite a lot of posts on here about Panda clutches which are worth checking out as well.

Hope this helps!

Cheers
Murdo

Hi Murdo
Thanks for the reply. I suspect the Clutch is on its way out. I can hear the release bearing whining as I’m driving. Luckily my Stepson is a good mechanic. If I have to replace the Clutch I’ll ask him to do it. I’m wondering if it’s always the case the Flywheel has to be replaced when the Clutch is done ? Car had done 108000 so I guess it would be due to go. I’ll take you up on that offer next time I’m in Edinburgh.
Thanks
Ian

I believe the brake reservoir also shares the clutch fluid. Like most Fiats both have slave cylinders ( brakes have four). So when it empties (brake pipes at top clutch beneath) not only you have no brakes (apart from hand powered lever and engine compression) so no brakes and you have to start up car in gear and crash/time gear synchromesh to get home.

Thanks for the reply. Clutch feels very heavy. Was driving today. Toe on my left foot felt like it was being amputated 😂
