Hi, my name is Cris and Im from Plymouth.

I have recently purchased a Cinquecento Sporting as my previous car, despite being mega fast, was also mega thirsty so I wanted something that was excellent on petrol but still had sporty touches.

....I have found it in the cinq! I could not be happier with my choice as a small car that you can just get in, and go with a grin on your face all the time.

My girlfriend is also on here, Heidi B and she has a Turbo'd cinq with the turbo kit from Van Aaken.

However, Im not going down that route as I want to keep it n/a really.

Any ideas what works well, and what doesnt?

I know the 1242cc punto conversion is popular, anyone had a rolling road test with one of these fitted? What did it produce?

I have a 1108 in there at the moment, with a K&N bolt on filter, Magnecor uprated leads, uprated spark plugs, new head, new valves, new cambelt, new gearbox and a new clutch as well, its also got an ecotek fitted to it by the previous owner.

Any advice welcome, and hello once again, hope I can learn a lot through here. :)

welcome to the forum :)

when i had the 1242 running i never had chance to get it rolling road'd, but you could definately feel the difference (much more throw you back in your seat) and my mpg also went up strangely enough, probably because i didnt need to rag it to get anywhere :p

i'm pretty sure pete (fixitagaintomorrow) has had his 1242 n/a rolling roaded and it came back with something like 70bhp, although he also has a superchip on it :)

Hi Cri...I mean Overboost,

Good choice of car, were you impressed by Heidi's?

Good quality exhaust will release some bhp, try Supersprint or Janspeed and steer clear of custom affairs.

welcome, word of caution - loose the ecotek. assuming its fitted on the brake servo hose then it only feeds the number4 cylinder. bad plan. ive contacted ecotek about this and they confirmed it needs to fitted centrally on the manifold, which'd involve drilling and tapping it below the throttle body.

GSR do a lot of performence parts for the FIRE series of engines - so if you were to get a 1242 in there, you could go nuts on parts from the punto60 section :D

Have you/do you plan to do any work with regards to suspension and brakes? Id do that first if it were me (and i did!)

If you're sticking with the 1108, try to get your hands on a Punto60 Throttle body:)

And hope you stick around on the forum(y)

sie, what kinda difference did the punto60 TB make? Im considering it as a next upgrade, are they cheap? and how did u get the fuel vapor return pipes (rubber/blue metal ones) off - when i was doing my headgasket, i couldnt get them off and gave up eventually!

mush more grunt and pulls easier. Seems to rev a little free-er too. Cost me £45 from a scrappers. I just got the pliers on the Fiat clips and then replaced them with standard jubilee clips from B&Q. Took about an hour with a mate on hand to hold the pipes while I swapped the throttle body over.

Its already been fitted with a full suspension kit (shocks and springs) lowered 40mm.

My previous car was a Rover 220 Turbo Coupe.....which had been mildly played with as well, I still have it, but its for sale.

The punto throttle body is an option, is it an easy swap, and does it make that much difference?

Ive been considering the Supersprint stainless 4-2-1 manifold + de-cat + centre section + backbox, along with my leads + plugs + k&n should see me a few ponies released I reckon.....

Well, ive heard its great, mines sat in my garage having been gasflowed [big grin] :D just waiting for the high comp head
