Personally I'd pull out the existing radio and replace it with a aftermarket one using an adapter plate, a Alpine or Pioneer will be vastly superior all round?

I have asked this before as well. I concluded that John202020 is right that if you want a better radio just change it. Installing Uconnect would require a new ECU unit for the radio. Comaptibilty could never be assured and you might well never get a new ECU to work. I have perseveered with the existing raidio units and decided I dont want to invite issues with compatibility or upsetting the cars main ECU by changing. Small Fiats are not quiet cars so high fidelity is never going to give its best in them. You can get a standard single DIN adapter plate for a replacement radio from eBay so a replacement unit would still look neat. Im going to wait until I have problems before changing. Good luck.
