Hi Everyone,
I'm currently in my final year of Uni studying product design. For my final project I would like to design a 'Drivers Aid' i.e. a Head-Up Display.

Just wanted to do some market research and was wondering if anyone on here had a spare 10 minutes they could fill out a few surveys for me? Only 10 questions each

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9F93P9D

It would be greatly appreciated.

Also any views on incorporating HUDs into cars would be great.

Many Thanks
Tom

Are these not becoming fairly common in high end cars and American cars that think they're high end like corvette?
Good luck with it not really got the time or patients to do three separate surveys

my way of doing this would be lcd display without a back light.
but i feel they remove focus, probabily less than the satnav and current speedo tho

seen this?

what happens when apple gets involved?

3. Would you like a quick way of knowing your speed consistently?

like a speedometer  don't all cars come with them?

Dashboards are way too cluttered. All a driver really NEEDS is their speed. Everything else can be relegated off elsewhere.
I always felt the old mini had the neatest dash. 1 large dial displaying speed. Small red light for oil, small green light for indicator (with a very loud clicking to accompany) and the distance travelled.
I don't know why but nowadays I always find the dash hiding behind the steering wheel, even on the adjustable steering I find the speedo awkward to read.
If we really have to have a dashboard then it should be an expanse hiding airbags and storage

Hi Guys. Thanks for the input and filling out the surveys, they are now offline if any more try it. Got the feed back I needed which is great. Yeh the idea behind it was keeping your eyes on the road and being able to know your speed without looking away, much safer than looking down.

Idea is now turning more into a set of HUD glasses that basically say the speed and revs. With it being aimed at track day drivers so they can keep their eyes on the track and see when to shift and what speeds they're achieving. It also can be used in daily driving though.

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks Again

I do have a problem with my speedo - it only reads 20, 40, 60, 80mph, with tiny marks inbetween these numbers - so the really important speeds are guesstimated.

:yeahthat:

The marks in between the above mentioned speeds are so small and thin you can barely notice them, especially if your eyesight isn't the best (n)

I find myself having to look closely at the speedo so i can make sure i'm going 30 through a speed camera for example and not a few tiny marks further
