Technical Heating vent problem, help!!

Hi, sorry if this has been addressed before, I did have a look around and couldn't seem to find something that matched my issue.

I've got a 2002 Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2L 16v model and for some reason my heating/cooling vents work fine at settings 1 and 2 but as soon as I want to turn it up to 3 or 4 they cut out and don't push air out anymore which is a bit of an issue in the current weather!
If anyone can suggest something as I'm planning to change my power steering motor out this weekend so if this is something I can fix myself I may as well kill two birds with one stone

its not fan resistor, cuz even without fan resistor plugged in, it would still work on speed 4, contacts inside the switch itself are burned or corroded

Course it would 4 bypasses switch?
Even worse I did the exact job 2 years ago.
