Technical heater plugs

On my fiat ducato campervan 2.5 tdi 1996 should the heater plug light come on when engine is cold all year round beacuse it dosen't at the moment last time i saw it working was last winter ans then it stoped showing the light is this right or wrong. also is it possable that this viechel will run on bio diesel 100% i would like to hear some replies many thanks jonathan

Only if sub zero temperature and it seems to be hit and miss so some don't come on til -4. If it is sub zero and the system is not working you should have a flahsing light unless there is a short in which case you will have no light. Have you checked the fuses?
