General Heater only works on Full Power

I'm new here so any help really appreciated.

I have a 2000 Punto 1.2 8V which I have had from new been a great car but just recently the heater blower has only worked on full power.

searched the best suggestion I can find is heater relay or resistor (is it the same thing) if so is this a red unit that sits in the fusebox under the bonnet?

cheers for the quick reply are they easy to fit and just a case of going to local Fiat dealer.

do you think it is also the cause?

Hi Mop,

The resistor's job is to limit current going through the motor. Hence slowing it down. So when the control is on full the fan still works regardless because the resistor is not being used. So a faulty resistor (or the wiring to it), sounds likely.

Yep change it yourself,one screw holds it in;see link below.....(in post #6 picture 3 you can see the white resistor at right of picture)
