Hi

Can anyone please help just got a Fiat 500 08plate and the heater just blows out hot air even when on really low anyone know how to fix

Thank you

Ah the dreaded heater box fault. I had this on my 500. The blend flap is controlled by a ludicrously weak pin which has a habit of snapping. The bad news is it is a hell of a job to get fixed by a main dealer running anywhere from £1500 to £2000 for most garages to fix. The entire dash and steering column have to come out! The good news is Dean from small car services near Southampton will do it for a flat £175. He has literally just done mine this weekend. It’s well worth the drive down there as I think he is the only person in the UK that can do it.

Hi

Thank you for the reply, do you happen to have any photos of the pin and where it’s located and where I could buy one from as I will try and do this myself

Any help would be much appreciated

Sorry I don’t, all I know is it’s a bugger to get at. And easy to mess up if you don’t know what your doing.

OP did you have any update for this? This happened last year with my 2013 500L and somehow resolved itself after I tried lots of fiddling about with the temperature. This winter it's started again and has stuck with driver's side freezing cold.

Does anyone know of any other method/anyone else that will resolve this? I might have to take a trip down to Southampton otherwise!

Have you assured that the coolant leval isn't just low? Only after you do that, you should verify that engine does get up to operating temperature. If not possibly thermostat stuck open. If not that you made need your 500L checked for a heater control issue

Just as a follow up, I took it down to Dean in Southampton in the end (who I couldn't recommend more) and he diagnosed a failed blend flap drive motor and replaced it immediately and for a reasonable charge as he had the part in stock.

Lovely warm car again!

As Pukka Pete mentioned, it's Small Car Services in Southampton.

He described it as removing the lower dash trim to get to the motor, didn't seem like a huge task. It was also a different issue to the common Fiat 500 issue apparently.
