Hi guys,

This morning was my first trip in the Panda with a steamed up windscreen, so I put the heater on and waited for it to demist. And waited. And waited.

Seems the heater blower motor is working, but the heat isn't being blown onto the screen even though I switched the control to demist. I tried putting it on the other setting but I don't think I was getting any heat into the car either.

The guy I bought the car from said that it had a brilliant heater, so something must have gone awry.

I haven't had chance to look at it yet but thought I'd ask here first - is there a flap or something which could be stop and preventing the air being blown into the cabin at all? I may have dislodged something while messing around with the paintjob or maybe when I was trying to fit a stereo.

As I said, the blower makes a noise when I turn it on but very little comes out of the vents.

Cheers! :)

Cooler air will give better demist effect.

Re he heater matrix, undo the battery, relaese the sound barier thing from driver side and you should see a valve on the far end of heater matrix.
Make sure the valve arm opperate free and in full range ( 7 to 11 on the clock). Possible air lock as well, undo the return hose with running engine, no heater bleeding points on 4x4 coolant hoses.

I messed with the levers on my journey home and it seemed to start working again - must have just been something stuck a little after the car has been standing. Might be worth stripping out the airbox and cleaning it all up when I get a dry day, I've read old threads about how much gunk can get stuck in there.

re. your original question - yes there is a big plastic flap in the airbox that controls the airflow. If you take the rubber seal off the rim and lift out the grill you'll see it clearly and if you can get someone to operate the airflow lever inside the car , next to the temperature control, you should see it moving. My guess is either cable from the lever, or flap was jammed in the closed position.
