Hi,

I know that this has been partly discussed in other threads but I could not find if there were any solutions to this and as it seems to be common I thought a new thread might help.

My offside indicator cluster has a band of condensation which is obscuring the whole of the indicator. Has anybody else had this and if so were there any solutions?

Thanks

Lou

Hi Lou

Well this is just one of the problems which I have with my Ulysse (Which I hope is getting fixed as we speak??)

When I told the dealer about this they said they will replace all the light units, my car is in the dealers at the mo & should be getting all new light units all round!

Sorry I can not help you anymore than this

Hi Paul,

Were all your light clusters affected or did they decide to replace them all as it was a known problem? Does 'ALL' include the rear light clusters as well?.

Lou

Hi,

Sadly the problem is likely to come back on the front lights even when they are changed. The plastic lense is effectively just a cover for the proper lenses. It will probably burn off after a few minutes with the lights on. It affects most lenses on this type and we have it on our new Ulysse and Punto. We also had it on our 5 series BMW

They tend to fix it by drilling a larger drain hole in the bottom.

Hi,

I too am having my rear nearside cluster replaced soon - this is due to a fault; the whole cluster fills with water!!?!?

BUT as far as my front ones - yes, my indicators do mist up occassionally, but not too concerned. As Poggy said, they burn off quite quick, so not a permanent fault. Just one of those things that we have to live with!

Hi,

I had to buy a new headlight bulb for the Punto so I thought I would look at the options for new bulbs.

Everybody seems to rave about the new Osram Silverstar bulbs which are 50% brighter Xenon with the same wattage and 100% safe for plastic lenses. I didn't want the blue looking bulbs and these are pure white.

Anyway I ordered some from www.powerbulbs.com for £19.50 (pair) inc carriage and fitted them today. I fitted one first for comparison and I was amazed, they are at least 50% brighter and clearer than the old bulbs. I am seriously thinking of getting some for the Ulysse now. I also got a free set of sidelight bulbs worth £10.

If you need a new bulb at some point, it is well worth spending the extra couple of pound on these. It may even be worth it anyway.

Hi Poggy,

That sounds interesting! Haven noted previous threads about Xenon bulbs [and the fact some of us missed out, sniff!], I am still pleased with the factory fit normal ones BUT it is nice to know an option is out there.

I also don't like the blue bulbs - are they all weather or something!

So, how much hassle to change a Ulysse bulb?

Hi,

I will have to confirm it tonight on a dark road, but the difference is huge.

The Punto is quite easy for bulb chaging. I think the dipped and main beam bulbs are easy on the Ulysse, but the fog light needs the bumper removed. I did however manage to fit the missing foglight cover to the Ulysse by removing the grill (plastic clips) and loosening the headlight. I did get multiple scratches from the sharp metal, but I did get it on and could have replaced the bulb if necessary.
