Hi all

I am starting to look at Cinqs as a potential purchase - doing a bit of research I notice that the head gasket is a common problem.

How do you know if it is on it's way out?

Cheers

Water loss.
Oil and water mixing - either smelly water in header tank or a mayonaise type deposit in the oil system.
Possible compression loss (needs a compression tester)
Poor starting
One wheel at each corner :D

Mine had a buggered HG.

Would drink a header tanks worth of coolant every two tanks. (when giving the beans)

At the same time i filled the coolant up, i'd put a couple of hundred mills of oil in. Not had to top it up once in 1,500miles of post rebuild! :slayer:

Slightly lumpy idle.

Ask how much oil / coolant it needs regulary and have a look for scum in the header tank.

Hi ladz, wasn't here for a while,

When I open valve-rocker(?) cover(where the fresh engine oil is going in)while engine is running there's some pressure running out-is this normal, or could it be head gasket failure?? Water, oil, everything's fine, engine running with no problems, taking only petrol.
And there's only small pressure in coolant sump while hot.

How long could engine run if there's bad gasket-what could happen later???

Thanks.

btw. fuel cons. around 7.2 ltr/100kms - city/motorways/reg. roads mixed
