General Head Gasket 1999 Punto

I've just bought a Fiat Punto, yr: 1999, and the head gasket has just gone. Admittedly it's a bit of a worry since I've just bought the car, though I know the seller well so financially etc it's not a problem, but does anyone out there know whether this is a general problem with the model or am I just unlucky? If I'm just unlucky, then fair enough, I'll get it fixed and keep the car. If it's a known problem (or if anyone knows any others for that matter!) please let me know!

The head gasket seems to go once or never on the Punto, when its replaced they will inspect the head and block for problems. Once its done you should be fine.
