Technical Head bolt torques

just to clarifiy, what is the torque setting for cinq head bolts in NM ?

Haynes says Stage 1: 30 NM, Stage 2: angle tighten through 90 degrees, Stage 3: Tighten a further 30 degrees.

first of all tighten then all to 30nm is order when you do that do stage two when thats done onto stage three

its to stop you bending/buckling or damaging the bolts or head

its too slowly increase the pressure on the head all around rather then tightening it fully on one end and having the other end not bolted on which could cause damage

Right you ahve to tighten the bolts in a certain sequence and in stages otherwise youll mess up the head. So tighten the bolts to 30 NM (1st stage) then tighten them again another 90 degrees (2nd) then another 90 degrees (3rd)

so torque to 30 nm then give them all another 1/4 turn (overtightening ) then another 1/4 turn ( overtightening )

ive only ever done the sequence once. basic its from the middle and exhaust side - out.

also i just do them all up bit by bit to keep everything even

Infact the last engine i never even used to torque wrench i just did them up - so - tight. then a half turn haha
