So, having a loot under my bonnet, I see this chip. It's been steamed or rained on at some point, so the labels have gone completely illegible. Does anyone have idea from the box shape what kind it is, or a smart way of finding out? I am guessing it's a cheap ebay chip, debating whether to pull it out or not, or if I can find a way to connect to it, but I can't see any bluetooth networks coming from it.

Any ideas?

Oh if anyone can tell me if this box would make much difference for my GP 1.3mjet, that would be great
Cheers

These things just overfuel the car by altering the fuel pressure signal As such they make the vehicle illegal in most countries. I think different areas in Oz hve different regulations but Victoria issued a useful guide
https://www.epa.vic.gov.au/~/media/Publications/1031%204.pdf
Section 7 indicates that these "chip tuners" are illegal
"Non-original electronic chips or computers, whether fitted asa direct replacement or in a ‘piggy-back’ configuration, are not permitted to be used in an engine management system unless it can be demonstrated that their installation and use allows the vehicle to meet the appropriate ADR."

I also consider "
Variable fuel pressure regulators are not permitted unless fitted by the manufacturer as original equipment." in secton 2 would also prohibit them.
