Ok heres the deal. Went out to my nice little punto to find it weeing petrol all over my drive from the rear wheel arch. Thougt my wheel had been rubbing on the feeder pipe but on closer inspection found that the pipe was patched up with black tape, obviously by the previous owner.

I rang around a few places to find out how much the pipe would be and was told I'd have to get it from the dealer, which i had no problem with.

I then went to ask Fiat how much theyd charge to get it fixed. £30 for a diagnostic! I knew where the hole was I could have told them that, then it would coast roughly £240 extra if what I said was wrong was true!!!

So I went to the parts department, asnd bought the piece myself for, wait for it.................£50. £50 for a bit of plastic, but hey, I couldn't get it from anywhere else. I then took it to my local garage, who charged me £35 for fitting.

So in all it cost me £85 where fiat would have charged me £270. And on top of that Fiat were "too busy" and couldn't fit me in for 6 weeks after they'd done the diagnostic, which would take up to a week! My local garage took an hour to do it! the same day i bought the part.

Has anyone else suffered from this kind of problem???

OOOOOO im so angry now grrrrrrrrrrrrr[:(!]

yep i quite belive that, my local fiat garage charges £50 + vat per hour for labour that is just plain horendous lol but i still use em as i got warranty but a soon as that rns out i wont touch em with a 50foot barge pole

2001 Punto sporting in sprint blue with matching Mr Bump air freshner all together now mmmmmmm

i (ahem) cut my fuel pipe in the engine bay once, enquired at fiat dealer ant they HAD to replace the whole pipe from the fuel tank!! and was gonna cost 100+ quid, anyway went to halfords, 7 quid for a piece of injector fuel pipe [:0]

But saying that, they have always sorted out warranty jobs for me :)

dealers are mainly for waranty work in my opinion, id say half of the days workload at our place is usually waranty type work most of that being brake pipe and fuel tank recalls :D

I don't understand how they can charge so much though when you can get it done much cheaper else where. Yes obviously if you have a warrenty fair enough. But people must still pay their prices, otherwise they'd have lowered them.

franchise dealer have there prices controled by fiat and they also have much higher overheads that your local back street, its how the industry works.
go too a audi or merc garage and see there labour rates.
