I gave my 1.6 dynamic a bit of stick today (I went on one of those single seater race days as a present) and I would put my training  to the test , and I was totally surpised at the road holding capabilities around our semi legit open lanes, even with traction control off.
with it on it is a doddle.
after a Gulp Rover , it is a dream.

Re: So..........................................

Heh, being a former rover owner myself, I know what you mean, although the defaults are always for pure motorway crusing in a rover, get the thing lowered and with the right suspension and they are very very good on the handling (as can be seen on the R45 change to the ZS)

Sounds like a fun day...I'd love to go on one of those organised track events. One thing I notice, handling wise, is that I miss the immediate turn in of my 1.6 Dynamic compared to the Abarth. It's because the 2.4 block is so much heavier than the other petrol engines it blunts that immediate bite that you get in the less powerful Stilos. Just goes to show a great drivers car is about much more than just sheer grunt. In the Abarth I prefer to go slow in quick out as far as cornering style is concerned and because there is so much torque it makes that style quite enjoyable.
