General Handbrake surround removal/fe-fit

Hi all,

My surround is unclipped and im struggling to get it back in, how do I remove/loosen to try and refill it?

Take it out again and carefully straighten the tangs that clip into the holes in the front section. These are easily bent back. Be gentle. It is a bit awkward. If its bent a tab back it wont go in Take it slow and they will eventally go in. It took me several attempts. Dont bend or break the tangs or you will be in trouble. Mine went back really easily... on about the 10th try. Then fix the fixing nut back. Dont miss the metal sleevelet out. I could not see why it was so difficult. BE GENTLE.

Where's the fixing nut and how do I remove the whole thing?
 
Fixing is right at its back in the cup holder base under the little mat. 10mm very low torque. Remove nut, lift the back end about 3 inches and remove by pulling straight back. i would heat gently with a hair dryer before straightening the tangs.

Chock the vehicle as it easier if you can move the handbrake lever whilst doing it to get maximum clearance.
