handbrake light stays on constantly

The handbrake light stays on constantly and there is also a ticking noise, which is a worse in lower gear.

HI Theresa. In regards to the handbrake light, try disconnecting and reconnecting the wire at the top of the brake fluid reservoir and then press the reset button on the top. If this doesn't fix it check the level. If that's OK then get it checked as brakes are not worth scrimping on.

Hi Theresa,

check also the handbrake "on" switch, its usually a white coloured spring loaded button near the base of the handbrake lever, and may be stuck down. you might be able to poke at to release it with a stick or something without taking off the center console..
