baaaaahhhhhh i only replaceed my rear door cards about a week ago!!! and there was no guide then! lol. although i did sae my plastics and make mdf replacements... so when i sell up, i can tkae the speakers out and put the plastics back in no worries... need pics, will go take now... :)

had to be in that position as the fuel filler was in the way, and speakers were too large to go above it.. lol. makes for quite a nice kidney punch tho :)

also re: the plastic, i managed to get them off without breaking the red tags...
stupid of me, but i didnt take step by step photos :(

but my method, instead of using the original plastic, i instead used the plastic as a template to copy the shape onto 6mm (maybe 8mm hmmm...) MDF, then decided on speaker location....

cut the desired speaker holes, and holes for speaker screws.. then drilled 2 holes, top and bottom for mounting of the plate into the car. i used 2 of the original holes from mounting the plastic, to bolt the mdf

i then went back to the mdf, inserted the bolts, covered with fabric, so bolts are now under-cover

then put in the car, using the speaker hole to put locking nuts on the back of the bolts

last of all screwing the speaker in place, so all is sealed up :)

job done :)

right. ive just bought some new rear panels fromt he scrappy, only £10 haha, with 14 brand new red plug thingies with them haha, ok, so im about to start on this little job just wanted to kno how u have wired it up. i need to run new wires from head unit, was wonderng, one per side or both to passenger side and then run one under back seat to other side?

my speakers are amped, so the cables run back to the amp in the boot, but probs would be best for you if you go down, under the seat a bit, and then under the plastic sill cover

That Looks Really Good I Want This Done Too My Cento. If Only I Had A Clue How To Do It Myself Im Useless At Things Like That But Iam A Girl :p

I've also made my own custom rear door cards and put my 6x9s in them! Was quite a simple job and looks really effective. I'll get some pics and post them up! :)

cool. any advantage getting a amp?

Big advantages if you wanna use a sub.
Currently looking at ways to ditch my 400watt sub (for weight reasons), and make some kind of space saving boot build... will get round to it at some point, and when I do I'll post a new thread.

If it's just to run the rear speakers, then potentially there's no advantage - most decent head units will support 4 speakers at a suitable output level with independent balancing.

Nonsense! dead easy job - just requires time, patience and lots of cigarettes!

Pics please :)

well today i got the mdf cut to size and cut hole for the 6x9s. so ready for fibre glassing on next none windy day,

as for the foam what type of foam isit, and doesnt it show that the mdf is higher???

and for the amp id only use it for rear speakers. and i have a 4 chanel sony as standard the 4x40watt minibeast haha

you know theres a much better way of doing this ! its not only stronger but requires no foam just a little bit more time and you can also paint this if you want and its dead smooth.

you need to use 100% polyester fleece and some good qulaity fibreglass resin. i use upol. if i get time in the next few days i will do a small guide to show you.

Just finished the fibre glassing process. so am on to the foam tomorro, so any info on type and size would be great?

get yourself down to a housewares / crafts shop like dunelm mill - they sell the exact right foam. just under an inch thick, but when you stretch the material over it it gets compressed so ends up being thinner.

In answer to your earlier question, yeah it does make the panel stick out, but not so much that it looks odd.

This was the same style panels in my old car:

A dedicated AMP will also sound better than the one out of a HU. Its hard to believe but even a cheap AMP will make the sound much clearer and give more punch.

absolutely (y)

OH, and to anyones previous willt he fibre glass stick to the plastic, the answer is yes. sort of,

mine stuck fine, no problems, till my mate decided when i wasnt lookin to 'test' it, and basicly i herd the fibre cracking and coming away from plastic, as i have the foam and stuff attached now i cba taking it all apart, just going to glue gun into what i can reach.

the fibre glass holds the weight fine, just dont let stupid freinds mess with them :p

when i get in today i will show you guys a better way of doing it. theres no need for planks of wood or cutting the plastic trim or anything like that and when its done its done. it wont come away or split.
