had to be in that position as the fuel filler was in the way, and speakers were too large to go above it.. lol. makes for quite a nice kidney punch tho
also re: the plastic, i managed to get them off without breaking the red tags...
stupid of me, but i didnt take step by step photos
but my method, instead of using the original plastic, i instead used the plastic as a template to copy the shape onto 6mm (maybe 8mm hmmm...) MDF, then decided on speaker location....
cut the desired speaker holes, and holes for speaker screws.. then drilled 2 holes, top and bottom for mounting of the plate into the car. i used 2 of the original holes from mounting the plastic, to bolt the mdf
i then went back to the mdf, inserted the bolts, covered with fabric, so bolts are now under-cover
then put in the car, using the speaker hole to put locking nuts on the back of the bolts
last of all screwing the speaker in place, so all is sealed up
job done
