Guess That Car Game

You lot are better than I thought (y)

Its the very underestimated Vauxhall senator mk1 :)
Technically it's a Mk1A. But then I'm just sore that I had Ital estate as my second choice. Especially as I used to have a saloon in beige with horrible brushed nylon seats.

When it first came out, the Senator, or Royale, to give it its original name, was feted by Car magazine as a real competitor for the S-Class Mercedes. I actually worked for an Opel dealer, Martin's of Ardwick in 1979 and this car was the flagship, along with its coupe sibling.

It really did feel like a quality product with a strong, smooth 3 litre 6 cylinder engine which, despite not having an overhead camshaft felt every bit as fast as its German rivals. A strange quirk of GM marketing then was to give the Opels the same engine but in different states of tune whereas the Vauxhall versions had different sized motors, or in the case of the early Astras, different engines altogether.

Still wouldn't mind one now, although preferably a Mk2, if I had somewhere to keep it.

Yes a very underrated car. I was lucky to work on a few in the 90's (mainly the mk2 one like the police always used) and thought they were lovely and smooth. My favorate one of them all was the coupe Monza version - what a machine! And ten times better than a Capri in every way (y)

To mis-quote a line from a Robbie Robertson song: If you like the Monza, you'll love the Bitter Coupe.......

In the meantime, if everyone would like to put the kettle on.....or possibly go a way on holiday for a couple of weeks, The Beard will make a bit of a cock up of posting the next offering

Sorry chaps and chapesses, it's been a bit hairy (see what I did then?) at Hirsute House for the last few days. If someone else would like to put one up then I'll have a go later.
