I have been looking around for a smallish crossover or 4x4 car and the Sedici seems to fit the bill, although I havn't actually been to look at one for sale yet. I currently have a 2010 Fiesta Zetec S but I attend a lot of car rallying events and I'm often allowed to take my car into the stages which are usually on Forestry Commission roads. On occasions the roads have been a bit rough for the Fiesta (especially after 100 or so rally cars have chewed up the surface) and I have clouted the front spoiler a couple of times so am considering a change before I do any serious damage. I was wondering about the ground clearance on the Sedici - I read an online review somewhere that it was almost as good as a Freelander. Does that sound accurate?

I have just got rid of a Freelander and bought a Sedici 4wd 1.9, the handbook gives the ground clearance as 7.9 inches. It seems a great car.

Cheers, thanks for that info. So would you say it compares well with the Freelander?

The Freelander is second to none as regards winter weather.. I bought it new on a 10 plate and in the first year did 16000 miles much of it in Europe in attrocious weather. It went any where and there was little need to reduce speed on quiet roads even in the mountains. However, in the second year I did just 4000 miles, and the only snow I have seen has been 3000 feet up in the mountains. There is no justification for keeping £20,000 of motor car now that my European journeys are only from Spring onwards. I researched various 4 wd options, and found that the Sedici was a capable alternative; so I have parted company with the Freelander and my VW Passat , 11 plate. I have no regrets and am impressed with what I have experienced so far.

I might be slightly biased shalebing but I think you will be pleasantly suprised .... Anything a Fiesta could almost cope with a Sedici will with ease.

Thank you.
Was wondering what the ground clearance is.
( Almost an inch more than the new Skoda Yeti )
