Hello from sunny (and presently very HOT) Northern California! I'm a "mature" gentleman (most of the time) who has been interested in automobiles (among other things) for most of his life. During my teen years and early 20's (many moons ago), my ultimate dream car was a LP400. Sadly, I have never been independently wealthy so that dream was never realized. Several decades later, I have a small amount of disposable income to play with, so I thought it might be fun to use some of my spare time to restore a slightly less expensive Italian breed, in the form of a FIAT. Originally I wanted an X1/9, but those tend to be a bit more rare than the plethora of 124 Spiders here in California. I got impatient and bought a couple of 124s to play with (they were a package deal, a 1973 5-speed and a 1979 2000 automatic). Life has been hectic during the past year or two, so I haven't gotten around to starting any repairs yet. In the meantime (a few months ago) I happened upon a 1974 X1/9 at just the right price who was looking for a new owner. I couldn't pass her up, so now I have 3 fillies in my stable. Since I haven't really started in earnest on any of them yet, I've considered selling the two 124s and focusing on the X1/9. But... I'm not sure. Maybe I'll keep all 3, but start on the X1/9 first. We'll see. In any case, I may pop in now and then with progress photos or even the occasional question. Stay tuned... (and I'll post a few photos of the girls)

The manual spider would be my favourite of the 3 to restore. The other spider should be kept for spares and devoured as necessary. The X1/9 doesn't have good styling in my opinion.

It'll take you 12 months to restore any one of those, so you may want to settle into this forum., lots of good advice here.
