My GP looks like it has the dreaded creek from the strut top mounts. I'm just wonder what size spanners and allen keys I need to remove the shock from the car. A mate has a spring compressor and he is taking car of the rest
trial and error mate, iirc think the 3 bolts at the bottom are 18mm? Will need a spanner on both ends as they have a tendency to spin. Think it may be a 5 or 6mm allen key combined with a snanner/socket to under the top of the struts.
There's nothing that you find find in a standard tool kit.
Thanks indeed ! I started the job today and ran into trouble so have aborted it till tomorrow. I couldn't get the wiper arms off and only got a puller in the last hour but getting dark so no point in starting. I know I have the sockets for the bottom, its just the top shock nut I needed to know.
If the top nut is stiff, any pointers for shifting it? Or is it just plenty of brute force and ignorance??
