Right I have just started looking at these and they seem to be a nippy car. I know this sounds like a stupid question to ask but what is the top speed these can go? would rather hear from experience as stats never tell the full story.

Also whats the common problems with these models?

i have the 1.4 16v sporting. i can only get around 110-115 at a push... on a good day... on a slight downhill... if i haven't had breakfast... :) although i have 17" rims, not sure how much(if any) difference that makes.

You just put a downfall on my day :( I have a 1.2 Mk2 Punto and I can get 104. This is very bad news as my choices are a Corsa SRI or Punto 1.4 16v Sporting

BTW you are car looks sweet how did you get your grill like that?

you got an 8v or the 16v 1.2?

The 8 valve will barely touch 100.

Anyway, top speed dosent really matter. The car looks way better than the corsa.

Is it the new Sri with the 1.6 turbo?

the GP is quite a heavy car so the top speed suffers a bit.

And my grille has been sprayed black and the middle orange bit vinyl'd black to join them together, its probably the most common mod on the GP. Only costs a tenner to do. and my number plate is missing in that pic so thats why it looks so different. (y)

Its the 8v and I have touched 104 downhill and with veryy late gear changes especially 4th lol .

I understand what you mean as that's what I thought about cars until I started going out for drives with my mates and am always left behind.

No it would be a 2005 1.4 SRI my mate has one and av seen it reach 120

Looks sweet like. Has anyone actually cut it out and made up a grill to fit all of it ? thatl look sweet.

Jeez lad, don't kill yourself trying to keep up with your mates. just choose the better lookin car "COUGH... GRANDE" ;) and drive slower so everyone gets to see it!
:slayer:

... and yeah sort of, search the threads for the linea grille

The speedos will overread, so it wasnt doing 120.

Go for the 1.9Mjet then, you will leave the corsa no problem.

Aha suppose I don't drive like a complete manic as two of my mates both 17 died in separate car crashes last year. I just want sumit a little quicker on the straights like M and A roads. Your convincing me! I have had alot of problems with the punto i have atm so would you mind in telling me the common problems please be honest lol

Am only 17 aha turn 18 in June so am looking at finance :) I have had loads problems with the Punto I have atm so am making sure I make the right choice in my next car.

Not too many IMO, i had issues with:

door handle not working
glovebox broke
electric window stopped working
cd player stopped reading my cd's

all of which are known faults and were fixed quickly under warranty, i have heard of issues with suspension knocking, but again fiat take care of that!

Hmmm sounds ok.

That linea grille you were talking about looks fooking class. How much are they though?

Ive had none of they problems.

Will be less than your Mk2, also if its under warrenty then thats not an issue.

Ive had a wheel bearing - Warrenty Sorted
Strut Mounts

thats it really

the linea grilles are about £160 if i remember rightly

you can get the same effect with vinyl bout £20 and a debagged grille £50

Spot on mate. Probz go with the linea am thinking to go all the way with my next car as if am getting it on finance it'll be with me a good 3-4 year. So might try to get it to show level EURO all the way.

Strictly speaking it wont be your car to mod until you payed for it, and dont forget the added insurance costs....

It is really cause most finance from independent dealers are just bank loans so am lending the money. I think it would work like that if it was car Hire which is very similar. Yeah alloys and coilovers would properly be the only modifications I would need to inform the insurance company. Things like air filters and such are just pointless as if a accident did occur i would easily be able to change them over but lets not get into all that insurance business :)

Dont make a fool of yourself, you have some common misconceptions there...
1) Finance Company own the car until the last payment is made.
2) A personal loan from a Bank or Finance house is quite different to Motor Finance.
3) Modding a Hire car is a definite No-No
4) ALL MODIFICATIONS have to be notified, read the smal print
5) You assume you would be able to walk away from your crashes....
6) Insurance is the most important thing regarding your car on the Public Highway.
