maybe the evos are there to compensate for them not making it to fighter pilot status
lol he lives in sherifhales, you might have seen the evo, silver evo 6 with black raliart stickers plastered over it and his name in the side rear windows, "S Blakemore", sad bastard. lol whereabouts are you in telford?
That's an interesting observation ChrisUK. There are a great many RAF (& ex-RAF) guys reading this forum (Including me). Neither the relatively small number of aircrew nor the necessary ENORMOUS number of engineers & support personnel or their families are able to enjoy the quality of life that you probably do (ie go home to your house & family at night) in these terrible times.lol f**king numpty's the whole lot of them. I work in the RAF in Civilian IT and there all numptys in Air Traf :tosser:. Come to mention it most people in the RAF are .

You should be ashamed of that comment. Where do you work for MOD - West Drayton?
Coming from a forces family I do agree with mike (for the first time ever)
there seems to be a certain resentment for the RAF (amongst other forces aswell)
But mike I think he was just trying to have a dig at his mate and everybody knows what a brilliant job the forces do
I didn't mean it the way you implied it. Unfortunately most of the people I encounter are the 'numptys', I.E the people who are in the force just to be lazy and get away with doing very little and get a fat pension out of it. Or then you get the officers that think there too posh to use a computer and have to be baby sited, when they are usually intelligent people and could pick it up very quickly. From my observations the Air force is very unbalanced, some people are working there arses to the bone while others are just sat waiting around doing very little.
Don't get me wrong I'm from a forces back ground as well and have great respect for the people that do their job and to the best of their ability's and these poor guys and gals that actually get deployed to these 's**t holes in afgan and iraq etc'. I'm considering getting a deployment out there as a MOD civilian to do 'my bit' I know its not much but every little helps. As for not getting anywhere I've been in the civil service for 6 months and gone from a E2 to D band so I don't have a 'grudge' I'm quite happy to serve the majority of the people I meet. Hope this has clarified my position maybe I shouldn't have used a generalisation and If I caused offence I apologise.
At your age Chris - apology accepted. And I hope that RAF personnel who you might have to work for (RAF Regiment?) will read this & look after you .
Best wishes, Mike
Funny you should say that one of my collegues In my IT department is ex RAF Reg . He's great. Still works hard despite having to take morphene constantly for back and skeletal pain from being in the regiment.
If it makes you feel any better I shat myself 3 times over both Iraq (x2) & Bosnia (x1) when I had to take ENORMOUS 10+G evasive swerving action to avoid becoming a fireball from high velocity SAM's (Tornado F3). On one occasion it became a "Redout" (blood swells to the head & eyeballs). I had to deal with the mess in my own flightsuit, but the groundcrew had to deal with clearing my vomit from the cockpit. However, I put a barrel of beer on for them to say thankyou. Perhaps now you understand how lucky you are to be alive?
So crabs do work when they go on tour!
My mate is in the Raf Reg and has done 2 tours of afghan and is in Iraq with 34 sqn and never been shot at once, i rekon hes hiding somewhere in hole!!
im ex-army by the way hence the crab
am prepared for torrent of pongo abuse!!
Whats his name, I'm based on the same station 34Sqn are before they got deployed to Iraq .
SAC Williams, first name neil but i think he gets called bill, he is in support weapons (mortars)

That will be RAF Leeming, W.Yorks then (F3's). Knew it well.
