I'm off to visit the new Tesco store in Stockport tomorrow morning so I'm driving up tonight staying in Heaton Chapel somewhere. The route takes me up the following roads: -

A421 to Milton Keynes;
M1 up to the M6;
M6/M6 Toll upto J19;
A556;
M56;
M60;
A6.

Anything to watch out for on these roads?

The M6 toll is a race track, make sure your car is looking good and driving well ;). Deepending which bit of the A6 you're on it can be bad for getting stuck behind things, leading to moments of road rage. It is up this end anyway - hope it's better for you down south :). Oh and the M60 was flooded last night, loads of standing water so watch it if it's been raining :(

Why of why would you want to go to Stockport?! :p

*Says me as he tries to get the effort up to go out into the rain of manchester and cycle the couple of miles back* :( (yes guys, I am going for sympathy right now :D)

Have fun on the M6 Toll, it is bags of fun, as Helz said!

No speed cameras NOR police - and if going north the toll booth isn't until the very end. It is virtually no holds barred on there, believe it....

Just be careful once you get back on M6 proper - incuding traffic jams, etc :(

Oh yes there is!! They have one marked and two unmarked Jags. I travel the M6 Toll at least once a week, keep the speed to between 80 & 90 and they wont bother you. (Dont quote me on that though if you do get stopped lol!)

Thanks all. Just got back home after quite a pleasant journey back. Must admit that the M6 Carpark around J14 wasn't much fun and the surface there is just like a 5 mile rumble-strip! Bluddy Northern back-roads! ;)

Must admit Stockport wasn't that bad (I've been to much worse) and the people in the Hotel (cough! ahem! if you can call it that; more like a beefeater with rooms, LOL!) were very pleasant if absent half the time (Toby Carvery in Heaton Chapel).

Pleasantly surprised when I got there to find a Bravo/a meet going on that I hadn't heard about. Tucked Shabash! neatly (for once) between a white 1.4 Brava and a nice Heraldic Blue Bravo SX with Abarth bodykit (and a towbar???). Anyone on here?

M6 toll was fun apart from a 306GTI-6 beating me away from the toll on the way up. Shabash! showed tremendous "Bouncebackability" though on the way back absolutely trouncing an Audi A3 TSport much to the drivers annoyance! :)
