As you guys know im having trouble getting my fiat started, i dont even know the exact cause of problem. So i decided to ring the fiat dealership nearest to me in london to find out how much they charge to 'diagnose' the fault - they told me £80. I also phoned a dealership in Birmingham which charged £30 for the same diagnosis! , why such a huge difference?

I live in the north west london area and am wondering if i have to find the fault , is there a cheaper way of doing it then spending 80 pounds considering i have to pay for further repairs later. Also is it fair different Fiat garages charge such varying amounts?

i was shocked too so i asked for confirmation, but she told me thats the fee they charge. There is a Gunsons in teddington i can see from the website, which is not too far from me - any idea how much they would charge ?

I have had 2 free diagnostics from Fiat garages. They make their money from fixing the 'faults' they find.

I had 2 quotes 3 years back, £20 and £40, 2 different garages. They just thing#k of a random amount me-thinks

There's a certain satisfaction you get from driving over a Sleeping Policeman

I would:

1. Ask for it for free. (Only takes couple of mins, good customer relations, "Did you know I post on FIATcentral?", etc..)

2. If that fails then barter them down as low as possible. (Same reasons)

3. Then ask for cost to be deducted from any repairs made at that garage. (cos you know where that can be repaired cheaper, they don't have to do it again, etc..)
:D:D

I paid £30 for an inspection on mine with regards the s**te design of the fuel tank- body roll means losing fuel!!. They just checked the fuel lines and oil lines, even thought I asked them to look specifically at the filler (source of all evil:)) as that was the root of the problem. I was told of 2 oil leaks I partially knew about and that my fuel lines were OK, that I knew anyway!!

So Fiat service are no longer trusted for diagnostics:D, thats where the spanners come in handy!!

Arse

Ill think of something witty....just wait and see............wait I might not.
