Technical gettin ripped off???

Jus got a mk2 punto with 34k,yeahhhh,drivin round after 200mile the head gasket decided to go on me,after a lot of chew with the warranty company,only had the car 7days they agreed to foot the 318quid bill quoted from the garge...the mechanic also sed something aboout 40quid because the engine was already stripped to change the cam belt and tensioner,should these be in with the 318??is he genuine or trying to con me?also once the gasket has been replaced,can i expect it to go again??im not your everyday sunday driver,so i do give my car a bit of stick!!

get a breakdown of the costs as to whether the £40 quid is for the belt and tensioner or are they just adding this on for labour.if its labour its a load of crap cos they have to put a belt on anyway and the tensioner takes minutes.as i said get the full breakdown of what that £318 covers eg parts,labour,head skimmming etc

The £40 will be for the belt and tensioner parts, sounds about right if you got labour for free.
The head gasket should not go again for a while unless you really mistreat the engine and feed it naughty substances.
