Technical Gearbox noise

I have noticed over the last month or so, whne im am putting the car into 2nd or 3rd, the box makes a noise. the only way to explain the noise is like a whisk you use in the kitchen. the noise is only there when I put the clutch in, as soon as I lift the clutch to the biting point, the noise dissappears. and the odd thing is it only happens in 2nd and 3rd. could the syncro be going on those gears?
car has 11000miles on it

same thing happens to me, but when I am putting the clutch in and the engine is warm, also it's pretty much in all gears - it gets worse over time, it used to only do it a little bit but now it's every day for me - most embarrassing.

Pete reckon's it's time for a new clutch - not good!

would check the gearbox oil, sounds like there could be an internal gearbox problem though.
