Styling Gear Knob

i got a new gear knob for xmas but i cant put it on.
well its not that i cant put it on just that i cant get the old one off.
ive tried pulling but it only moves a little bit. havent got to the other method in the guide yet but is there any other way i can take the old one off?

If its a MK1 then you have to hacksaw it off but if its a MK2 then you can pull the knob off but in your gallery looks like you have a MK1

hacksaw. shorten the stick while your at it if ya like

when you say hacksaw it off do you mean the the rubbery bit so itll pull off or do you mean the actual pole bit that the knob is attatced too?

The rubber and/or the stick... depends what new one you have

If u want to shorten the stick lop them both off. if u want to keep the same length stick then just the rubber and the hard bit beneath

i finally did it. took me over an hour of sawing and such but it was worth it.

It's not the easiest bit of sawing is it Looks much better now though
