I got a Garmin 350T 2-weeks ago and all was great until the speaker went very distorted on the way home on Tuesday. Then on the way to work on Wednesday the speaker stopped working completely.

I will be taking it back to Halfords on Saturday (can't get there earlier), but I wondered if anyone else had this issue with their Garmins?

rite mate
i work in ripspeed and have to deal with this quite a bit

i know your unit well but in fairness i cant think of one of them returned at all or for that reason

ive had quite a few 660's returned for that reason
i found a way to get them working for a while
if you hold in the clock on the top right for 10 seconds you will get a hidden diagnostic menu, go across a few pages until you come 2 a sound one, make sure it is running off a frequency and it has the right sound option selected, this is in the middle of the screen on the right

if im right there should be a thing displayed saying incompatible audio, change this to anything else, turn the unit off and on and it will work for a while at least

halfords have a direct line with garmin anyway, so youll get sorted with a warantee claim, if i was you i would pay the extra 30 quid i think it is and get the new 2008 nuvi 760, came down a hundred quid on wednesday there, much superior unit

Thanks for the reply.
Good to know how to get to the diag menu, but that didn't get the audio back.
I think it is a physical failure of the speaker, or possibly an intermittent contact.

My 350T was £189 (web "reserve & collect" price), the 760 is currently £249. So still £60 more and doesn't come with the traffic receiver or a home charger.

Until the speaker went I was happy with the 350T, it was working well

only problem i have with the 350t is its from the 2006 range i think, its brother model the 310d has now been discontinued along with its upgrade the 660 so the 350 will soon follow, i think all the new models are going to look like the new 760 as we got the new POS for the cheap nuvi range, soon to be the 205 and 255, this would be a useful oportunity to upgrade and see if you can use the same policy of the reserve and collect for the 760, reducing 60 quid to 35 and try and return the thing without the charger, ive returned a few without them, i just forget or it aint worth the hassle. the traffic thing is probably the only thing you will loose, but you can try that too ;)

pity about the speaker, if changing the audio setting in the diag menu doesnt do anything then its most certainly dead

say to the guys in ripspeed that you seen the 760 with the 10% off or whatever it is online and they have to honour that
