Wanted to put my new (P97) Marea in for a 48K service and timing belt.

Gainmanor came in at £857, which was best I could get in reasonable driving distance. (One came in at £1.2K).

Garage is located in one of those huge car sales business parks in Silverlink, Wallsend. Drove around for a bit and eventually saw a small Fiat sign beside a building site. When I pulled up I saw that it was the building site, the main showroom is not built yet, they just have a temp marquee thing set up.

No courtesy car was offered, but the service manager did offer to give me a lift somewhere. I had already arranged one.

The dreaded phone call came at tea time, rear shocks leaking, front discs worn, new alternator belt required, no anti-freeze. I said leave the discs and fluid to me and fix the rest.

When I dropped the car off they had offered to drop it back when they had finished but when I got the call the next day they were 'very busy'. So I got a lift in.

Total cost £1035.94

Value for money? I thought it a bit much that they didn't offer to put anti-freeze in as they had dropped the engine out, however, they did fit the alternator belt f.o.c for that reason.
It cost a lot more than I would have wanted but came close to the second quote for service and belt alone so probably the best deal I could get locally.

Guess the body kit and K&N will have to wait for a bit.;)

85% of Marea HLX drivers have speeding tickets.... lol they'll have to catch me first.

I actually work for Gainmanor Fiat.

I'm a sales executive there.

Any feedback on how we can improve our service would be highly appreciated.

On the note of courtesy car, if you wanted a courtesy car and had you asked for one we would have given you one.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. :D Hope you hang around and don't take the slagging off of Fiat dealerships too much to heart. ;)

I think I might have met you in the temp showroom, came from Gateshead?

Tips on customer satisfaction:

When a person brings their pride and joy into the garage with a problem they are usually concerned and worried about the size of the problem and subsequent cost. Car problems aren't planned and always come at the worst time, sod's law.

Greet them with a smile, be friendly, avoid smarm like the plague.

Tell them something about what the mechanics will be doing.

Don't expect them to spot the coffee machine and help themselves, offer.

Same with courtesy car, not everyone would think about it or feel comfortable asking for one, if you offer it thats a bonus for you.

Little things count, like coolant on a £1k+ job. (Makes you think that the subframe was dropped rather than the engine)

Repeat business is important, I still have an outstanding problem on my car. You quoted too high for an immediate fix but the fact that the investigation was eventually foc will influence my final decision on the repair.

Remember that forums like this exist and that any bad experiences get more coverage than good ones, but, a recommendation can bring new business. There are a lot of people out there who read but don't participate in the forum.

In general my experience at Gainmanor was neutral, could do better. ;) But it could have been much worse. You are well placed at Silverlink and with the local competition being who they are, you could get a very good reputation for yourselves with the subsequent business.

Why not get your bosses and Sir Tom to have a look at the forum.[}:)]

Oh, and a copy of the Marea workshop manual would be gratefully accepted.;)[}:)]

Decent garage, we have a doblo jtd and they did a good job servicing it, everything was fine when we got the car back. Can't remember how much it was off the top of my head but it was reasonable and that is compared to a local alfa romeo specialist and Benfield Fiat (railway street newcastle)

One small thing would bigger courtesy cars be a good idea?
Getting into say a punto after a doblo feels much smaller !!!

Doblo is not ugly just different

maz, welcome.

are you coming down to this fiat meet in nottingham on 28th feb?

because we are having a mini convoy down.

and he said to his himself, "wow! what was that thing, it went like a blurr. I wish I had a Punto".
