I am replacing all of the rear brake pipes. Anyone know what the funny loop above the rear beam "axle" is for (presume to stop airlocks?) and is it necessary?

was changing both rear brake pipes on my punto few weeks ago and i just bend them so they made their way to the cylinder and regulator, probably doesnt matter how u bend them
