General fuel problem????????

i have just bought a 1999 mk1 punto and i am having problems trying to get it 2 start will turn over but wont start. it will start first time if you put sum petrol in the carb anyone got any suggestions cheers

I thought cars weren't made with carburetors in them anymore? I no they are on bikes but didn't they stop in 1993 or something on cars?

there not carbs as such its a 1.2 8v on a t reg it looks like a carb under the air intake.

It should be obvious - the car runs if you put petrol in at the engine end so it has to be something like a blocked fuel filter or the fuel pump has failed.
