Hi, the fuel gauge has just gone from half full to empty and the low fuel light has come on, But, I know there is half a tank of diesel. I have checked the fuses, and they are all ok. any advice please.

:( Might be the connections for the fuel sender on the tank? Poor earth or broken wire!

Well, just a little pissed off, was told to take out all the seats and lift all the flooring to get to the panel that will allow me accsess to the fuel sender, BUT, no panel, so now i am asking , can someone tell me where the fuel sender is and how to get to it to check the connexions.
Thanks in advance because i am slowly losing the will to live,
I have never had a car that is so complicated to work on, and have to say it will be the last Fiat I ever own. (n)

Hi pphil,

I have the same problem with my Ulysse at the moment...I got my favourite mechanic to tell me what he thinks he can do about it. Turns out that he thinks you have to drop the fuel tank and then unscrew the fuel sender unit and then put the tank backup. He seems to think it is the wrong way round to do it and there should have been an access point from the carpet.

He told me that to drop the tank would take a couple hours at least so looking at a reasonable bill for a nuisance problem.

I am currently trying to look for one off eBay but I cannot find any for the Ulysse only for the Peugeot 807, which is similar in all ways and this one costs £64.99 plus postage of £9.99.

I would take a trip to your garage and get a quote, but I would say don't expect much change out of £200.

I am purely guessing the fuel consumption of mine at the moment and have run out of fuel twice :(

Good luck in your search!

Thanks for that stixUK, thats what my garage said and told me about £300 to do the job, he said new sender costs £150 "ouch". I know I am going to get caught out soon, just been lucky so far. I am looking at Parts Gateway to get a part / price and see if I can do it myself.
