General fuel filter

Can someone tell me where the fuel filter is on a 98 20 valve VIS. Garageman here tells me there is none on it, he traced the line to injection rail and said that they must not have one. I find this hard to believe !!

On my 20vt it’s under a plastic panel at the rear of the car near side. Not sure if the VIS is the same.
It does look like the VIS has the same location for the fuel filter.

The Coupe is not the easiest car to work on, even for some mechanics, let alone for keen DIYers. Keep an eye on your oil as these ageing beasties use it, weekly checks are important.
