Technical Fuel filter

Has anyone found that an old fuel filter can cause a misfire kind of noise, ie. a spitting noise from the exhaust. That's one of the problems that I've got at the moment and I'm wondering if it could be the fuel filter.

I've got a fuel filter in my cupboard, but I just need time to fit it :-(

I had an electronic diagnosis and the garage said that there was nothing wrong, but I don't believe them :-(

before my head gasket went, my car always used to burble a bit from the exhaust as if it were overfuelling at idle. I thought it was a little odd, but i think others cinqs do the same. Ive had diagnostics done at two places and everything came back fine.

You say its one of the problems? When my hg, it caused even more burbling as no1 wasnt burning right due to water ingress.. it was noticeably more burbly, but that was also with a lot of power loss
