Technical Fuel cap problems - In the right section!

Yeah I put it in LL, but its a long day and I had two windows open!

Hi all, just been fiddling about with my fuel cap, goes in the whole ok, but the key wont turn and lock it, thus I cant get my key out when its all the way in.

Its about 3/4 the way in and it locks, so its there now, its not air tight but keeps the fuel in. Is this going to be a problem?

First of all, get some WD40 sprayed into the lock and then hold the cap off the car and see how the mechanism works and you should likely be able to see the culprit.
