Hi everyone, I've decided to upgrade my current system, I have a mk1 Punto with a Pioneer DEH-P6500R head unit and Infinity 6x9s, which all sounds great, up to a certain volume when the standard fronts rattle and occasionally distort. Rather than just investing in some sound deadening, Im going to replace the front speakers and get an amp, only problem is that I want some decent speakers, none of which will fit in the standard holes. I have thought about building fibreglass custom pods, but if there's a less time consuming option, I would prefer to do that. Any ideas, or info from anyone who has replaced their front punto MK1 speakers would be great.

Cheers

hey just flickin through the Demon Tweeks catalogue, you can buy an Audioscape speaker enclosure for the Punto which accepts multiple speaker sizes and comes matchin the color of your interior!!! dont know what its like but its expensive at £146.75!!!!!! and its only for models with electric windows

Street racer,

i upgraded the standard speakers in my bravo the other day to these pionner ones,

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=454&osCsid=f2153da24ad3809e545c20d15b36a26b

plus i had to get the fiat mounting brackets from the site aswell for an extra tenner.

the sound is so much better and i cudnt recomend the speakers more. i got 2 rolls of sound deadening at the same time.. so for under 100 i got a decent speaker system at the front of the car. i dont have no speakers in the back just my amp and sub and the sound is brilliant.

i fitted jbl gto325s to the front of my mk1 punto.. as you comment an absolute pig to fit and i'm still not happy with them.. need to get a dremel to cut away some of the dash in the speaker enclosures to get the standard covers to sit flush... (but that is my only gripe)... hugely improved on the standard speakers, good mid range, bloody excellent high range... i got them reduced for twenty quid (up to date version are forty quid) from the following....

Cheers for all the responses. I think Im gonna go for the infinity components at the front, I just heard some last night and they sound amazing. As for the speaker enclosures, I had an idea about building roof mounted speaker pods angled downwards, haven't seen it done before, should be good, difficult, but hopefully good.

Thanks again
