HI All,

I was just wondering if you can get a replacement for the front headlight cover instead of buying the whole headlight costing £200.

The headlight cover got burnt, and now it partly covers the light coming through, therefore, I may fail my MOT.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Colin

As far as i know, the lens can't be bought seperatly. One of the techies will be able to clarify though. An entire headlamp unit in good condition can be bought for £25 though from a scrappies if you ring around... fairly easy DIY job... about an hour to fit, but if i remember correctly, it does involve removing the wheel arch liners and front bumper.

£45-55 for a brand new headlight, about £15-25 from a scrappy... if your getting a 2nd hand one, check the mounting brackets are not cracked as this is why i had to get a new set, also check the wiring has not corroded and the covers on the back are water tight

It is possible to do without removing the wheel arch liners, just pull the bumper down (not fully remove) (i would reccoment removing the wheel arch if you have colour coded bumpers)

when re-fitting your lights, dont over tighten them as this causes the mounting brackets to crack and your lights go everywere and everyone flashes you, then you need to get new ones!

thx guys. sounds like a nightmare considering my headlights r fine except 4 t cover.

any idea where i can get them for £50 for new? sounds better than i thought.

also, removing the bumper, i have color, any websites that gives me a good step by step instruction with diagrams.

thx 4 ur help.

There are 4 screws on the underneath of the bumper, 2 inside the engine bay by the catch that holds your bonnet shut and then there is either 1 or 2 in each wheel arch i think.

yeh, there are 2 screws (i think, mine only has one but i just left it in and pulled the bumper out so it was just hanging on) and 2 bolts (1 eather side), if you put your hand through the gap at the top of the wheel arch you will feel it you will need a 10mm socket
