Looking to buy a Puma 1.7 16v.

Has anyone drove one, what do you think?

All opinions welcome

Tis a fiesta so its on a proven chassis, miles better than the vauxhall equivelant tigra and now holds its value quite well.

Still a ford tho(n)

What about a barchetta?

The Puma was built on the Fiesta Mk4 chassis. I had a Fiesta Mk4. I liked it a lot. It handled very well. The 1.7 engine is supposed to be very good too.
My Fiesta was reliable too. No real problems in 3 years.

guy i used to work with own one on a y-plate, being comletelt honest with you thie car not only looks the part, but drives with a lot of kick as well, seriously one cracking car. dont think twice, as for the fiesta another of my m8s has one, and its no-where near as gd a drive as the puma.

How can you say its a girls car when we all drive sei's or cinq's.
Im sure people have said that to you when youve told them what you drive.
when i tell people what i drive, Ive been told many a time that its a girls car or even a washing machine on wheel, but i still love driving it.

i have driven a puma and i have owned fiesta zetec-s both good and nippy but the puma definatly has the edge why not go for a racing puma 160bhp with almost no turbo lag :D :D lots of fun but hey i just sold the fiesta to go for a fiat so dont trust me.

I would hope it has no lag at all, as it has no turbo :)

PS Van Aaken are no longer doing turbo conversions.

Spent 7 years at Ford & Puma easily one of the most reliable Fords.Problems with door ajar warning lights/locking/alarm which ment having to strip door down-even frame! but otherwise great as already mentioned. Can't see feck all when reversing tho!

driven one, a 1.7 jobby (did they actually make anything else, or was the 1.4/1.6 just too much of a joke?), liked it quite a bit, and whilst its based on a fiesta floorpan, it doesn't drive that much like one (we had one of though's fiesta's, a 1.6 16v zetec, very nice, but too small, and red:p ) its probably one of the only fords I'd consider owning, but in dark graphite grey or else:rolleyes:

good sized boot too, actually very good, rear leg room is pants, but still better than the bastard offspring that is a 'ka'

not even one that looks like this?

I always remember a quote from CCC mag (car and car convsions, THE best car mag in the world till it went gay, or bust)
"since the start of the first stage of the day it has rained non stop here in ???? for ????? rally (panama or something exotic) several cars have slid off the tretarus tarmac, (names a few uber hot retro rally cars), needless to say our CCC puma with only RWD, only semi slick tyres (part wets) and 450bhp to the rear wheels, it pitched us into a ditch on the 2nd corner of the rally and ended our rally in heroic style"

or something like that, basically they overpowered a rough RWD conversion in a FWD car, and crashed it into a ditch on the 2nd corner,
