Hi, Iv'e got a Coupe 20v Turbo on a 1998 plate. Recently it had difficulty starting...when i eventually got it started it could tick over fine but soon as you put your foot on the accellerator it died, to cut a long story short i ended up taking out and cleaning various bits of the engine (injectors, plugs, dump valve and throttle body) cleaning one of those things seemed to sort it but now iv'e another problem.
Problem now is it starts up fine and ticks over ok (apart from mis-firing a bit and the injector light been on all the time) when you accellerate gradually to say 60mph its fine but if you accellerate hard it gets upto 4500rpm, injector light goes out and it wont go anymore....kinda like if there was a rev limiter at 4500rpm....
Hope someone has some ideas cos iv'e owned this car for 2years and love it to pieces and iv'e spent a fair bit of money on it (exhaust, brakes, new turbo) and i would hate to get shut of it cos of such a silly problem.
 
If the injector light is staying on its telling you its got a fault. If you've spent serious money on the beast then spend some more and limp it down to a dealer with a diagnostic computer who can tell you which fault(s) its trying to report...

hello I had the same problem at 4k rpms and the problem was that the turbo vacum hoses that are contected to the pierburg valve where wrong, please check them before you do start spending money.
