By performance, I presume you mean lightened. Any competant machine shop can lighten yours for you, jst don't be tempted to take too much off.

Hmmm...what sort of cost is being talked about here and tolerances of removal of metal from the wheel by the lathe?

I would consider doing that, got access to a lathe...a flywheel would cost nothing from a scrappy...

GSR do a few versions with more metal off meaning less guarentee of reliability,look on the site there not too dear
