Fitting new stereo in Brava

I'm getting a P reg Brava on Saturday and the stereo is dying so I want to replace it with a CD model.

How easy is it to do by yourself ?? I know very little about cars, but I built the computer I'm typing on so I guess I'm not completely stupid when it comes to these things. Is there any particular models that will work well with the Fiat speakers/fittings ?

Also, what exact part am I looking for in Halfords that will allow me to fit a standard CD ?

Or should I just give in and take it to a Car audio specialist ?

hia there,

Its not that hard when u yust want 2 install a radio with 2 or 4 speakers, but when more speaker r placed and u r gonne use a sub, ampliefiers.. its very complecated ,2 wire the whole **** properly.. because some wires cant lie to close 2 1 and other..

and another tip, u need a special bracket for the bravo so u can fit a normal radio inthere.
i think your halfords wil have that for u

myelf i have:

4 mid range speakers
4 hitone speakers
1 sub
2x amps

and about 100km cable :-D, and its works very nice after putting the cables in the right places

Replacing Stereo

To remove the stereo:
You need a surround (piece of plastic) to adapt the hole to the size of a normal stereo, you can get one from Halfords or the Fiat dealers for about £15

Then you need to get the original stereo out which a Fiat dealer can do in about 20 secs. and they may or may not charge you for (they didn't charge me). Otherwise you can do it yourself - see http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/fix-a-bravo and go to the bottom of the page.

Can't remember what connectors the stereo has as I cut mine off before checking, but wire up the new unit and off you go. Sometimes you have to swap the switched +ve for the constant +ve (yellow and red wires) you will know if your new stereo loses the radio presets every time you turn it off.

Not a difficult job.

Hope this helps... ;)
