Its finally done , got APEX springs on and it handles even better.
Got some tips for anyone fitting lowering springs though:
1) Buy 4 spare lower strut bolts and nuts cos the originals will most probably be rusted and will be damaged by the time you get the struts out.
2) If the 17mm bolt heads, from the above mentioned bolts get rounded from the immense pressure needed to remove the nuts (mine did), a similar sized socket (11/16 I think) can be hammered on.
3) It is easier to loosen the strut top nut (in the engine bay) when the car is on the ground. If the damper piston starts spinning with the nut, wrap a rag on the piston in the wheel arch and very carefully attach some mole grips to hold it.
4) Make sure you look properly at the way the springs should be seated on the cups and the way the top cup assembles back on to the front struts, there are indentations for were the spring ends should sit.
5) The same poit is valid for the rear spings, there are indentations on the trailing arms and the rubber upper mounts.
6) Finally, after you have fitted the two front springs and/or the two rears check to make sure the car is level. If not this could be due ot an uncorrectly seated spring (like one on my rears).
Hope this helps,
